Definitely not. Especially not before watching LOTR. I think it might not make you want to watch LOTR after seeing the Hobbit trilogy tbh.. They added so much nonsense to the Hobbit trilogy that made me legit disappointed after having read the book. If anything, do that. Watch LOTR and read the Hobbit, its a short and enjoyable story really!
